Over 200,000 images, from studio photographs to family snapshots, comprise the photograph collection. The accumulated work of some photographers and studios is represented, as are the images produced and gathered by individuals and institutions, many of these associated with the Research Center's manuscript collections. The full range of photographic media is found in this collection, including daguerreotypes, tintypes, paper prints, lantern slides, and negatives. Motion picture media are also in the collection, from professional productions to home movies.
A card index is available in the museum to assist in locating images in the collection.
