Welcome to PPHM,
the largest history museum in Texas and one of the nation’s premier museums, period. We’re glad you’re here.

Like any great museum, ours is diverse, entertaining, and full of surprises. Behind every corner, you’re likely to find the unexpected. You may see beautiful fine art from our substantial collections of Texas art, Southwest American Indian art, or work from the Taos and Santa Fe schools. Perhaps you’ll dig into the ancient past with a tour of our paleontology, geology, and archaeology areas. You can uncover the rich history of the People of the Plains, examine the firearms that played such a huge role in Texas’ pioneer days, or explore the fascinating worlds of fashion, transportation, and Texas petroleum.

Those are just a few of our permanent exhibits. The truth is that the walls, halls, and displays at PPHM change as constantly as the Panhandle skies. There is always something new around the corner.
