Back Forward

Furniture Gallery
April 5—October 19, 2008

Griffin renovated the Ranchos house with architectural elements purchased from various decrepit or crumbling buildings in northern New Mexico. She filled the home with European furniture and paintings as well as art and furniture from the American Southwest and Mexico, including
Hispanic religious art. The furniture exhibit will provide a glimpse into the large collection assembled by the late Griffin.

Textile Gallery
April 5, 2008 —January 25, 2009

Griffin collected a wide variety of Southwestern textiles including Mexican Saltillo serapes, Rio Grande blankets, and Navajo rugs and blankets. Approximately twelve examples will be on exhibit.

Foran Gallery
June 28—September 28, 2008

The Griffin collection, one of the museum’s largest and most important art collections, helped PPHM become a major destination for Southwestern art lovers.  Important Taos paintings in Griffin's collection include Brett's Horses in Snow, Couse's The Quiver Maker, du Tant's Cutting Ice on Brooks Lake (Cutting Ice on Taos Pueblo Lake), Fechin's Alexandra, Sharp's Cocoanut Blossoms and Wood Roses (Symphony in Yellow), and Young-Hunter's The Blue Door.
