Every plot has a story and PPHM has more to tell. New this year, historic trolleys compliment hay rides to take visitors on two dierent guided routes through the cemetery, including the annex.
Participants will learn about the cemetery’s history, architecture and monuments including a recently added mosaic depicting a resurrection scene. A second route will take riders by the cemetery’s gypsy graves, mausoleum and offices. Notable burials to be highlighted include Major Matthew Philip Houseal, one of five soldiers killed in 2009 when a U.S. soldier allegedly opened fire in a mental health clinic at Camp Liberty in Baghdad.
The Llano Cemetery Tour is a collaborative effort between PPHM, Trolley Express and the Llano Cemetery Association. Cost of the event is $5 per person; children age 3 and under are free. Enter the cemetery through the 34th Ave entrance. Weather permitting.
