 Sara C. Davis, Effloresence
Feminist Perspectives: Past and Present
Saturday Mar 10 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
More than burning bras and fighting for women’s rights, presenters Dr. Amy Von Lintel and Sara Davis see feminism in much broader terms.
While a student at West Texas A&M University, Davis began working with Von Lintel, Assistant Professor of Art History, to research how art was a significant part of the feminist movement and what it means to be a feminist in our contemporary society. Davis took her research to another level involving the interaction with real women in the regional area. She conducted interviews with numerous women, which formed the basis of her video performance. Sara will screen portions of her video during our program, which will hopefully incite a lively discussion about the issues it raises. The program will also include a brief history of feminism outlined by Dr. Von Lintel.
RSVP by Thursday, March 8 to Elaina at (806) 651-2258. The program is free with museum admission.
